"Here we are, at the doorway to the Coromandel.. How could we 'not' share it?!" Dawn said.
So they have. But, like all good things, it didn't happen overnight. "In fact, Seabreeze Holiday Park started as a dairy farm with a milking shed and a hay barn. Don used to buzz around as a sparky and Dawn worked as a school teacher until, 31 years ago, they bought 300 acres in paradise. Eventually they got tired of early-starts and acres of cow paddies. They changed plan. First they transformed the milking shed into a travelers lodge, and added self contained cottages. Time passed... |
"Guests used to arrive in the evening", Dawn said,
"They'd be hungry and there weren't a lot of evening eateries" So, like most sensible Kiwi's Dawn and Don got down to some serious action. The hay-barn became a restaurant and, because most Kiwi's love a cold ale, "we put in a brewery too!" Now, 14 years on Don and Dawn provide accommodation for families, backpackers, campers and even the occasional long-term-stay because, lets face it - Who would want to leave?! "Life's good when you're out of the fast lane". Come and see for yourselves. |
